Ozine 07
April 1, 2007--Ortigas, Megamall
It's a new way to start the month--Dressing up, giggling, okraying with your friends and generally having fun--and to attract good omen for the rest of the summer. After C3 disappeared, I guess Ozine became my favorite convention.
It could've been one of the best conventions of the year if not for a few, irritating factors, that made it not the best afterall.
I guess I should start with the good stuffs. A reminder, this is not a con report, just some observations, babble from me and stories to tell about yesterday afternoon.
I picked up Mao at her house at 1 o'clock. We were able to get a taxi and drive to Megamall. We were a little worried on the katana, but good thing the guards inspecting at the door were the typical lazy-ass that only move their bodies so it would seem they're doing something, when they are not. We took the escalator up to the 5th F, where Megatrade Hall 2 is located. The venue was already jam packed with people by the time we arrived there. Tickets now, were at stake. Last Toycon, they had to close the place because it was getting too crowded and ticket were sold out and then upon meeting with some of Mao's classmates, they informed us that they were still re-printing tickets. We got to buy some, fortunately then proceeded to changing clothes.
I wore my hakama-ish pants and the blouse I wore for my speech project, topping it with the only black jacket that will pass as j-rock. Mao was of course changing into Souji Okita, minus the moon crystal power make-up show. While fixing and adjusting some matters, Nanz, Mari and some of their friends joined us in what seems like a vanity fair. Nanz gave me the Joe Cheng that she mentioned before in her text to me before my pre-historic cellphone went back to its ancient roots. I was really delighted and surprised of the gift! Nanz in her NANA inspired attire always made me appreciate her, of course, that comes with her thoughtfulness too! Mari was changing into her BLEACH costume, only I don't know who her character was and I had no idea that Mari was into skirts. Ohohoho...but dearie, she copied the character pretty well. I guess me and Nanz shared the same sentiments about animes that was not for you. She was skipping BLEACH episodes, while I'm stuck with the next episode after the first.
Mao and I went ahead of them and expected to meet them inside later for I thought it would be possible (counting the numerous times I bumped into them unexpectedly), but I was wrong. There were too much people to even try and look so eagerly at each side. You can't stop and be awed so much or you'll be pushed down with so many people crowding per square meters.
Mary and her brother RJ joined me to watch the show on stage while Mao went ahead to the cosplayers' area. Our spot would have been good if only the big, red, level-up boot and online-playing area were not in the way of viewing the stage. They occupy most of the area where fans could've comfortably sat to watch the "main event" of the convention. So many, like the guys behind at beside me where practically giraffes in labor, only to see what was going on stage. More people were standing than happily taking pictures and raving, sitting down on the cold floor but having a much more cleared view of the main event. Really. It's even irritating that they have those tarpaulins to block what little is left of your view. I mean, seeing the whole Megatrade Hall 2, there were alot of unoccupied, noticeably more spacious area that they can occupy. They know that many fans are going to attend and I was actually expecting of them to open two halls considering the number of people that might attend. But to our dismay, this is what we get. The most that we did to at least feel better was to entertain ourselves with various commentaries about the cosplayers. Well, we can't help it. To wait until 179 of the 200+ contestant was really tiring, and it was getting on my nerves. Both literally and figuratively.
As expected, what's in is Death Note. A lot of MISA on stage, strutting the [irritating] cuteness that Japanese girls are famous for. A lot of L but they were really beyond compare. Lights, well, John was okay for a Light. He looks like him, but I don't know...something is lacking. Of course, would it be complete without the Death Note notebook? Stupid, of course not. To say, it was the best of all the DN characters cosplayed!

Is Ryuk actually kissing the notebook? AH!
I
don't know what's the name of this Shinigami. He's Misa's, right?

My name is Raaaiiiitoooo-tan, representing Death Note Citeeeeh! Awww!
^^V

We were nervous for Mao as her number neared. Her time on stage was a little too short and it seems she couldn't reach the mic, so we couldn't hear what she said. But I'm glad she did anyway. Saizou was with her too, that pig.
Now doing the "Kondo-san skit", off-stage.
We were betting on who would win, and our favor goes to the guy who fixed the mic, but he wasn't even on the list so the victory would be void. Mary's younger brother seems to be enjoying on the round of sarcastic, sometimes mean, but either way funny remarks. He was like a speaker of the mean things I restrained speaking verbally. Along with other of Mary's classmates, I survived the pain in my feet and back up to the last contestant.

Hehe...the Yankumi skit was really convincing!

Go Yomi! Hayaah!

Malabo kasi yung mga kuha kay Ban, kaya eto nalang, nakatalikod.

Wah! Manny Paquiao in the house!
NOBITA! NOBITA!
Kameeeen~ Renyjaaaa!

Alot of mecha cosplayer, ne?

There were some kids cosplaying too! This one is a Sailormoon group. Totally cute!

Ohhh! This kid is totally in character! Very good~

BLEACH.
(zip ^^V)
Cool RK group! I'm actually a fan of JM Chua, since he looks so much of the real Saitou Hajime of RK and has won a international cosplay competition!Wow! Mao was joking about how her character is actually the ancestor of these guys...
By the time the individual catwalk was finished, I was too tired to watch the group cosplay. I never appreciated sitting in the classroom for hours that much, after all that standing. We met Nel and his friend, Jowel. Nel was supposed to be cosplaying Arashi of Paradise Kiss but he didn't make it to the registration. Too bad! He could've won, if you asked me! He really looks like Arashi! Cool...super cool.

Arashi Vs. Souji Okita
Souji: Wala kang galang sa ninuno mo!
Arashi: Whatever!
After a couple of picture taking with Kienne, Kaoru, Aia and some more really wacky shots, we went to Jollibee. We went back inside and did a couple of more shots of ourselves after Mary and her brother went ahead. There was a lot of lovin' on Nel and kuya Jowel's part, posing like that for my camera. hyukhyukhyuk.

Around 9, we went home.
Now...this is tentative. I might cosplay Saito Hajime of Peace Maker Kurogane. They said we have the same lazy eyes, and I want my own kimono to begin with. The hair length wouldn't be a problem since I have to maintain it short, anyway. But...I'll hope for the best for now.
Oh! before I go...there was a certain pig that stole that whole day with so many pictures in my camera. And apparently, he was lurking everywhere! That vainy fenk pig! See this...
The Saizou a.k.a ChiPig documentaries...

in the taxi, frowning at me for putting him in a spot where he could easily be made into a lechon.
