Ozine 07

April 1, 2007--Ortigas, Megamall

It's a new way to start the month--Dressing up, giggling, okraying with your friends and generally having fun--and to attract good omen for the rest of the summer. After C3 disappeared, I guess Ozine became my favorite convention.
It could've been one of the best conventions of the year if not for a few, irritating factors, that made it not the best afterall.

I guess I should start with the good stuffs. A reminder, this is not a con report, just some observations, babble from me and stories to tell about yesterday afternoon.

I picked up Mao at her house at 1 o'clock. We were able to get a taxi and drive to Megamall. We were a little worried on the katana, but good thing the guards inspecting at the door were the typical lazy-ass that only move their bodies so it would seem they're doing something, when they are not. We took the escalator up to the 5th F, where Megatrade Hall 2 is located. The venue was already jam packed with people by the time we arrived there. Tickets now, were at stake. Last Toycon, they had to close the place because it was getting too crowded and ticket were sold out and then upon meeting with some of Mao's classmates, they informed us that they were still re-printing tickets. We got to buy some, fortunately then proceeded to changing clothes.

I wore my hakama-ish pants and the blouse I wore for my speech project, topping it with the only black jacket that will pass as j-rock. Mao was of course changing into Souji Okita, minus the moon crystal power make-up show. While fixing and adjusting some matters, Nanz, Mari and some of their friends joined us in what seems like a vanity fair. Nanz gave me the Joe Cheng that she mentioned before in her text to me before my pre-historic cellphone went back to its ancient roots. I was really delighted and surprised of the gift! Nanz in her NANA inspired attire always made me appreciate her, of course, that comes with her thoughtfulness too! Mari was changing into her BLEACH costume, only I don't know who her character was and I had no idea that Mari was into skirts. Ohohoho...but dearie, she copied the character pretty well. I guess me and Nanz shared the same sentiments about animes that was not for you. She was skipping BLEACH episodes, while I'm stuck with the next episode after the first.

Mao and I went ahead of them and expected to meet them inside later for I thought it would be possible (counting the numerous times I bumped into them unexpectedly), but I was wrong. There were too much people to even try and look so eagerly at each side. You can't stop and be awed so much or you'll be pushed down with so many people crowding per square meters.

Mary and her brother RJ joined me to watch the show on stage while Mao went ahead to the cosplayers' area. Our spot would have been good if only the big, red, level-up boot and online-playing area were not in the way of viewing the stage. They occupy most of the area where fans could've comfortably sat to watch the "main event" of the convention. So many, like the guys behind at beside me where practically giraffes in labor, only to see what was going on stage. More people were standing than happily taking pictures and raving, sitting down on the cold floor but having a much more cleared view of the main event. Really. It's even irritating that they have those tarpaulins to block what little is left of your view.  I mean, seeing the whole Megatrade Hall 2, there were alot of unoccupied, noticeably more spacious area that they can occupy. They know that many fans are going to attend and I was actually expecting of them to open two halls considering the number of people that might attend. But to our dismay, this is what we get. The most that we did to at least feel better was to entertain ourselves with various commentaries about the cosplayers. Well, we can't help it. To wait until 179 of the 200+ contestant was really tiring, and it was getting on my nerves. Both literally and figuratively.

As expected, what's in is Death Note. A lot of MISA on stage, strutting the [irritating] cuteness that Japanese girls are famous for. A lot of L but they were really beyond compare. Lights, well, John was okay for a Light. He looks like him, but I don't know...something is lacking. Of course, would it be complete without the Death Note notebook? Stupid, of course not. To say, it was the best of all the DN characters cosplayed!

11
Is Ryuk actually kissing the notebook? AH!

27I
don't know what's the name of this Shinigami. He's Misa's, right?

13
My name is Raaaiiiitoooo-tan, representing Death Note Citeeeeh! Awww!
^^V

We were nervous for Mao as her number neared. Her time on stage was a little too short and it seems she couldn't reach the mic, so we couldn't hear what she said. But I'm glad she did anyway. Saizou was with her too, that pig.

15

23
Now doing the "Kondo-san skit", off-stage.

We were betting on who would win, and our favor goes to the guy who fixed the mic, but he wasn't even on the list so the victory would be void. Mary's younger brother seems to be enjoying on the round of sarcastic, sometimes mean, but either way funny remarks. He was like a speaker of the mean things I restrained speaking verbally. Along with other of Mary's classmates, I survived the pain in my feet and back up to the last contestant.

16
Hehe...the Yankumi skit was really convincing!

16
Go Yomi! Hayaah!

17
Malabo kasi yung mga kuha kay Ban, kaya eto nalang, nakatalikod.

Alot of mecha cosplayer, ne?

24

There were some kids cosplaying too! This one is a Sailormoon group. Totally cute!

29
Ohhh! This kid is totally in character! Very good~

27
BLEACH.
(zip ^^V)

28
Cool RK group! I'm actually a fan of JM Chua, since he looks so much of the real Saitou Hajime of RK and has won a international cosplay competition!Wow! Mao was joking about how her character is actually the ancestor of these guys...

By the time the individual catwalk was finished, I was too tired to watch the group cosplay. I never appreciated sitting in the classroom for hours that much, after all that standing. We met Nel and his friend, Jowel. Nel was supposed to be cosplaying Arashi of Paradise Kiss but he didn't make it to the registration. Too bad! He could've won, if you asked me! He really looks like Arashi! Cool...super cool.

Arashi Vs. Souji Okita

Souji: Wala kang galang sa ninuno mo!
Arashi: Whatever!

After a couple of picture taking with Kienne, Kaoru, Aia and some more really wacky shots, we went to Jollibee. We went back inside and did a couple of more shots of ourselves after Mary and her brother went ahead. There was a lot of lovin' on Nel and kuya Jowel's part, posing like that for my camera. hyukhyukhyuk.

Around 9, we went home.

Now...this is tentative. I might cosplay Saito Hajime of Peace Maker Kurogane. They said we have the same lazy eyes, and I want my own kimono to begin with. The hair length wouldn't be a problem since I have to maintain it short, anyway. But...I'll hope for the best for now.

Oh! before I go...there was a certain pig that stole that whole day with so many pictures in my camera. And apparently, he was lurking everywhere! That vainy fenk pig! See this...

The Saizou a.k.a ChiPig documentaries...

The picture says it all...

Look at that evil eyes...

s7
He was targetting his master's ice cream even... And he threatened her with such eyes..

s8
He was playing deaf when I told him to stop acting like a bitch. See?

s9
So he heard me after all! I get a glare in return.
oh... that was normal.

 s9
He was asking Mao if he could have a picture with her...

s10
He occupied the front! She wasn't very happy about it...

s11
Envious...

Would Saizou get his own Katana and be a Shinsengumi in the future?

19th bday

My 19th birthday wasn't so sad after all.
After I have laughed and accepted things on how they really are at the moment, gave me peace.

Well...
except for the damn heat that's stroking me till now, it could've been near perfect.

Okay, so in my entire life as a student, this is the first time I received a failing grade. My promise to lessen the 3.0's was surprisingly granted, a questionable grade then the dreadful singko all Thomasians are afraid of.

But I have to face it anyway. I know my own faults or if I have not been serious in a particular area. I'm not saying that I'm not blaming that jerk for failing me! Fuck, we all know how big of an a-hole that guy is.

The moment I saw my grades, I was horrified, of course. I cried, for about 25 seconds, wiped it away, went to my mom to tell her about the Failed mark. She was cool about it. I love my mom like that. ^^

1

I'm just happy that I get to spend my birthday at school (for the first time ^^), with my friends, laughing together and even facing summer classes with such positive attitudes. After facing my father's preaching and disappointment speech, he'll have no choice but to pay for it anyway! I was warning them that I can't always please them with good grades and there will come a time that I will fail too, and it's here.

Akie K-Ann Miguel Mark Mao Miyuchi in front of the Ecclesiastical Library, going our seperate ways for the day, after lunch at "McJo" (^^V). My companions for the day. Thanks for the hugs and greetings, mga pare!

I guess it's a warning.
I'll really study hard next year. I swear I'll learn from this.
But I'm still hoping to land a job, despite the classes and the scourging sun.

Mao and I went home together after meeting her classmates to get her clearance. I gave Mary the CDs I promised to lend her and she gave me the Death Note scanlations I asked for. Domo Mary! Nel was there Arashi-like, as usual. Well, that's cool.

Before we went home, I got my Biodata printed first at Alva where it fucking infested my virus-free USB with porn-nicknamed worms! People there sure has some attitude problems, showing their snootiness, rivaling the already irritating heat outside. Their shop is so rotten they should just close down. Really. Fuck, now Dante, my mp3 player and USB are all infested with those fucking worms that Norton can't even detect! Eeeeek! What totally suck is that they primary attack folders. So if you have like 150 folders in your HD, then you have 150 worms in your system. If you have an average of 2-5 sub folders per folder, then your system is totally invaded. GEeeeeez!

We stopped by Sto.Domingo church before going home. Mao was aiming to arrive at 3:30 so she could watch Peace Maker Kurogane on Qtv, but I guess we were too late to catch Maro and Kichisaburo in action. Hehe... I was supposed to watch the Tenipuri chibi-special when I invited Mao over.
Then the rest of the day was spent with my best friend luckily gracing the chowking my mom bought me for my day~ yey. She brought Saizou along, so it was alot of fun.

My other friends also greeted me. I think the others that can't reach me through phone greeted me through friendster, but God knows how frequent I visit friendster. Maybe later. Thanks anyways!

This is the simplest birthday I have. No food, no cake, no money and a bio to face. But it was fun anyway. I really did enjoy this day. Thank you to all that loves me anyway! Haha! God bless everybody~

Pins and Needles

I hope I land this job.
I swear I'm going to be really disappointed if I don't get that.
The fact that it wasn't that hard as I expected is one, but the thing is...the application process took us 12 hours of lounge-talk-mall-lounge-talk-cafe-talk-talk-cafe-talk and more talk and waiting, if the chance is still not given to me after that all that effort, gah.

I'll still find some other way, but it will really disappoint me.

To my two companions!
Thank you to Rose Ann Rebadavia, for her 12-hour non-stop service of life stories and such. I really appreciate that, because if it wasn't for this person, we'll just drop dead of exaustion and anxiety. Oh yeah, the cafeinne is no match to you. To Joanna for also being there and allowing me to crash for the time being until morning. Yoroshiku Yuki!

(Rm.208)

That story comes after enrolling for summer class. I was with Mark and Miguel earlier. Thanks for the McDo and Donuts! ^^

On my way home, I bought two abanikos in Pedro Gil. [to edit] I like the color and design pattern of the first one. It looks like a sarong with a black lace at the edges. The other one is plain orange. Tangerine orange. Ooooh. I love it. ^^ Reminds me of Ken, really. Then a new ballpen. Suddenly the ones I used before, came into hiding after classes ended. So I have to buy a new one.

And now...to sleep!∞

Summer chronicles

04-14-07

Last Saturday night was filled with a lot of noise. Both pleasant and irritating.
What took place was, "J-CRUNCH: Ripito" in Amphitheater, Park and Garden, Makati City.

1

In short, sa Makati Park.
Yes, the one located along Ilog Pasig. The one that rinks of polluted water shit, but a fancy garden, nonetheless.

Mao and I was particularly amused that such an event is so near our place, so we thought getting there late would be fine. We were welcomed by people piling up Gate 1 for another whatever campaign by Team Unity (I hate elections and politicians you see). So at one point we thought that the event was canceled.

It wasn't canceled. But it caused a delay anyway. A 4-hour delay. So when we got there, there weren't much people and not a band has performed yet. Around 7:30 (from the 4 PM schedule) the first performer gave her best opening~

2
SETSUNA was the first performer and for the first time, Rui wasn't with her. She was with us while waiting for the start, then it was her on the spotlight!
She sang a Gundam Seed song (na di ko alam), Super Drive from Gravitation and Lonely in Gorgeous from Paradise Kiss.

3
3-Day Trial
Ang ganda ng boses nung vocalist! Astig!

4
Tokyo't Baboy
cover band of Do As Infinity (di ako sure ha, pero lahat kasi DAI ang kanta nila eh.)

5
Himitsu Heiki
Ang galing nung Canon D [Jerry C Ver.] cover nila! WAAAAH! XD Sana pala na biyohan ko sila! WaiX! Tangenah, galing ni KR mag-gitara! Halimaw!

euphoria
Euphoria
For an all-girl band, magaling talaga sila! I actually like the voice of the vocalist, very j-pop professional ang tunog! Nyahaha! Kuhang-kuha kasi yung Morning Mosume song eh! WOHOO~ go fanboys!

PPF ALL STARS
PPF All-Stars
Tatlo ang bokalista nila, oh pano ba yan! Great performance by this band. Astig! They were the last band that we saw before we went home. Swerte inabutan pa namin! Mwahaha! Sadly, no Remioramen song like in last year's Ongaku.

Around 10:30, Mao and I went home. There were still 9 bands following after PPF, but our lives was at stake, so we have to rush back. It's been a while since I've watched live bands like this. I've been so indulged with cosplays that I started ignoring bands performing on stage in conventions.

I guess I'll be looking forward to this year's Ongaku? YEY~

04-15-07

Finally, the long-awaited and planned 3rd photoshoot was conducted.

It was the usual hot day of summer. It was the perfect location for an ancient Japanese theme. The model in perfect play of the character. We've been planning for this shoot and it have been delayed long enough for me not to be ready for it.

But I wasn't. It occured to me how much of an amateur I am as a photographer when I couldn't figure out how to combine in one perfect frame the model and the location. Gah... It just got me frustrated. There were a bunch of shots but only a few left me satisfied.

I'm trying hard to improve my skills and hopefulluy, the next shoot will be a whole lot better.

[There were a lot of stray cats though. I got a couple of shots of them and some souvenier shot of the place. Check it out, very Japanese~]

I'll come back there one day and eat at one of the restaurants, I swear! Then I'll take more photos! Nyaha!

04-17-07
I missed Quiapo.
I really did.

It's not new to people that I'm a CD-collector, and to anyone just as addicted as me, then Quiapo is heaven. Hallelujia!

Good thing my dad gave me $60 for my birthday, thus signaling a long-awaited shopping in THE place.

Today I bought:
1. Honey and Clover the movie (I was supposed to download this but Sendspace is crapping me out of its domain)

2. Nodame Cantible (another 'supposed-to-be-downloaded' dorama. The website that I downloaded the first episode is taking too long to upload the rest. I'm too lazy to study bittorent, you see...)

3. Brother Beat (Is this an anime/manga? I think I've heard it somewhere so I got interested. Plus, one of the actors caught my attention~)

4. I Not Stupid Too 2 (I am anticipating and giving a high expectation for this movie. I've read some reviews that it's as tear-jerking and heart-warming as the first one. Well, judging from the way two of my companions laughed at a short scene, then perhaps I won't be disappointed.)

To Buy:
1. Dalja's Spring (leche kasi si Manong walang tester eh!)
2. Something about 1% (di ko na nasusubaybayan sa TV)
3. Babel (or kung may mahihiraman ako, pahiram nalang~ GAEL!!! XD)
4. Loveless [season 2] (yaoi! yaoi! Soubi!!! tanggalan na ng tenga si Ritsuka! XD)
5. You're Under Arrest [live-action] (I enjoyed the anime, perhaps the live-action can offer something new?)
6. Waterboys [dorama] (The movie was a hit and we all loved it. When I first heard about the movie, I thought that the person whom was referring me this dorama was just confused, but there really exists a series! GAAAH! Takayuki Yamada [Densha Otoko movie] in trunks! *nosebleed*
7. Trick (I wanna see Nakama Yuki doing some magic tricks! Nyaha!)

Along the cd-hunting moments we saw Sir Baccay! Abah! Batang Quaipo rin! Nyahaha! Parang bagay nga sa kanya yung hinahanap niya na cd eh "LOST". Para kasing pinabili lang ng suka ng nanay niya eh~ MWAHAHAHAHA!

jom

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE BROTHER!!!

Yehey~ birthday na nung bunso namin! Naks! Tutuluin na siya! mwahaha! Ayan, pwede ka na lumandi, Jom. Di ka na supot!

I like having a younger brother. Since oniichan is 5 years older than me, I never got to enjoy my childhood with him. By the time that he and I become close, we were talking tackling about family and his love life instead of arcades or toys. Well, we both love consoles and gadgets, yeah. With my younger brother, although we often fight, I enjoy being a kid over and over again because HE IS A KID. It's like having a playmate, whether its in Time Zone or badminton or playstation or PC games. Well~ I don't really tell them, but I do love both my brothers very much. ^^

Fufufu...

lover's position

Why do I feel so connected to this picture?

If you're curious what manga is this, it's Lovers Position. Yaoi of course! But I love the story, and the characters as well! I love Jun when he cries! Motoki-san is such an uke beside Hatori, but he looks really cool talking about how troubled he is to be with his girlfriend. Aww~ but Jun looks really helpless and hopeless if he IS to compete for Hatori's affection against Motoki-san. Jun is cute, but Motoki is a bishie. So...any objections?

Piso't Libo

To hell with it

My promised last day of job hunt is now over--or I think.

I'm still waiting for a call from the restaurant that I applied as a food server. I think the pay is minimum, but atleast it will fit my schedule and it's part time.

Thank you to Ann, Jiro and Patrick for being with me. I hope we all catch jobs soon.

I took a different path on my way home. You know, just to deviate from the usual. I was feeling a little out spirit already and I wanted to sulk while walking. Surprisingly, a playground was there to comfort me.

I've always liked riding the swing. It's always a joyful experience whenever you're up in the air and can almost reach the sky. Then you'll see the world rushing back down. It always made me hypnotized. There's something about seeing the sand and rocks under my feet while I swing back and forth that soothes me.

Kids of different ages were balancing up the barracks, while some take the see-saw and others simply run around chasing each other with those innocent smiles of theirs. Some of them shared the fun with me on the next swing. Amusingly, two girls started talking to me. The chubbier one asked for my name, but I asked her first. She gave me her name and was starting to get impatient with me revealing what was mine. I started a game of "hulaan mo pangalan ko", but she refused to take the bait, nonetheless. She always says, "di ko nga alam!" and I kept crying, "hulaan mo nga eh!".

Until the end, those two girls weren't able to know my name. And I walked away like some cool stranger, faced back while waving bye bye. I don't know what was my goal doing that, I simply amused myself. It sort of disappointed me that I wasn't inspired by the sorrounding. I thought that I would pick up some striking image in my head and perhaps develop it into a story later. Well, it wasn't like that. I kept sighing at the sight of children enjoying their life without worries. It's rare to find public playgrounds here in the Philippines, you know. And it kind of reminded me of j-dramas, so I got a little emotional inside.

Oh well. So much for my sentiments. I should watch something gay. It will make me feel so much better~
