Educate me, sige!

O sige na nga, HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY TO ME!.
O sey mo?

*coughcoughnabulunannacoughcough*

A Religious Post

I’m going to quote Fr. Bobby from his preaching of the gospel this morning. It’s about our love for God and how we are his passionate lover. It’s very short but very meaningful. I like it very much.

“Love without Passion is boring;
Passion without Love can be very violent;
Love without Passion must be killed
And Passion without Love must be tamed.
We are God’s passionate lovers and to one another.
Passionate love is for eternal.”

It’s Palm Sunday today and the number of people that attend mass every morning, drastically increased, I guess because they know it’s a special day today and it’s part of our religion practices. It’s sad to say that although Catholics celebrate Palm Sunday, they don’t know the very essence of the celebration or even why there are palms or “palaspas” sold to be blessed by the priest of the mass. I myself am an ignorant catholic. I’ve been baptized 18 years ago, went to a Catholic school in high school, yet I’m not very familiar with the history of this celebration, or of many other church feasts.
There’s an incident yesterday that for me was really embarrassing and showed just how people take religion as a practice and not as devotion. Fr. Bobby said that he will bless the palms once again after mass for the sake of those who came late. People gathered around, swaying their palms in the air hoping for even a droplet to fall on it. After he said some prayers, he blessed the palms with holy water. A reading of the Gospel is supposed to follow afterwards in celebration of Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem days before his execution, but as soon as the blessing finished, the people started walking out of the church. I and my mom are guilty of this ignorance and shameful act, until the priest scolded us with his strike-through-the-heart humor. I can still remember Fr. Bobby’s funny line that goes:

“Ang palaspas ay hindi isang anting-anting! Hindi iyan pambugaw ng masasamang espiritu sa inyong mga kabahayan! Hay naku mga kaibigan, hindi pa pumapasok si Kristo ay nagsialisan na ang mga sasalubong!”

It was funny alright, but I felt really ashamed of myself not knowing what I was celebrating that day.
Okay, to educate myself and the readers of this blog, I’ll provide a short history of Palm Sunday.

The feast commemorates the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in the days before his execution. This was the only day in which Jesus Christ set aside His ministerial role to make a political statement before His covenant people. Many Christians and Messianic Jews regard this event as the terminus of the first 69 weeks of Daniel's Prophecy of Seventy Weeks, and thereby a very holy day. Even setting this aside, the nature of the entry and its circumstances are usually deemed enough to warrant a special feast.

It was also a common custom in many lands in the ancient Near East to cover, in some way, the path of someone thought worthy of the highest honour. All of the Gospels report that people gave Jesus this honor. In the gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke they are reported as laying their garments and cut rushes on the street. John is the only Gospel to specifically mention palm branches. The palm branch was a symbol of triumph and victory (Leviticus 23:40 - Feast of Tabernacles, and Revelation 7:9). Because of this the detail of the palm branches and the scene of the crowd greeting Jesus as he entered Jerusalem by waving palm fronds, and carpeting his path with them, has given the day its name.

Haaay…it’s Holy Week and I’m suppose to be fasting. Not just from foods, but from my other sinful pleasures like Yaoi or anything that I greed for. I hope I can make it. I do want to make this Holy Week meaningful because I’m thankful of many things.

Really. =)

Seven no-meaning-at-all piercing

Image hosting by Photobucket

Today I got my 6th and 7th piercing (the 4th and 5th at the left ear) with Nico. I’ve been planning this since last year, and I finally decided to have it as a birthday gift for myself. It was supposed to be three (adding a third one at my right ear) but I’m not so financially stable right now so I had to delay the last one.

After going through a pace of being a J-rock addict, I think this fascination is what was left with me. For me it really looks cool. After downloading videos and pictures (until it became a gallery), let’s say I wanted to look “cool” too.

When I was determined to get add the number of studs I can fashion in my ear, I wondered why my parents weren’t rockers who have the same fascination with pierces so instead of just giving me 2 studs when I was just a baby, they could’ve jumped to adding 3 more so I wouldn’t have to go through this process at this age where I am fully aware of the pain.

Quite ironically though, I only wore one earring (at the right) before for four years. I hated the normal look and I didn’t want to look too girly. My brother used to borrow one of my earrings from me so when he returns it back; I sometimes forget to wear it back, until I got used at wearing only one. When I realized this, I gave my look a meaning. It represented my feminine and masculine side. And now, I just want it for simple vanity.

I’m an impulsive person.

game therapy

Yatta!

I finished playing Final Fantasy X-2!!! It’s just sad I had to use cheats. Actually, I used my little brother’s file, but sometimes he continues mine and saves it elsewhere so it may seem like it’s his but actually it’s still mine so I’ll call it quits. It took me 2 minutes to choose if I will abandon my honest, full of effort, 54% complete in mission but have only 1500+ strength game or my evil little brother’s effortless, 11% complete in mission only, equip with 999999999999999 gil, 9999 strength and complete items with accessories account as my game ticket.

I want to see the ending, damn it! That’s all! It’s B! B! B… Baboy ka Jerome!
In my entire RPG playing life, I have only finished one title and that is Thousand Arms which is both very anime-ish and hentai game-ish like. Hahaha! There’s a dating feature included. Too bad I couldn’t date boys. I almost finished Resident Evil 3 but there was a puzzle I couldn’t find the answer and I dropped playing the damn game. I finished until disk 3 of Final Fantasy VIII but I had to rely to a game shark or else I’ll die facing Ultima. That’s literally facing the creature. She’ll slap me with a “game over…” even before I know it.
Yeah, I know that’s really pathetic of me and I don’t deserve to be a gamer. Well, I don’t take things so seriously anyway. I play games to kill time or make my self happy! A game a day keeps a bored kid away! Yebah!

Tear-Jerker

It came as a surprise for me when I heard that Tanging Yaman bagged the Best Picture Award of Manila Film Festival 2000. I didn’t even hear it being shown in the cinema. This kind of ignorance of mine could be rooted from two different reasons: I was biased to Hollywood films or I just loved anime better to take note of local films. My mom took home a pirated copy of the movie and we watched it a few weeks after. I was moved to tears and immediately included it in my list of favorite movies. I watched it a couple of times again on the same pirated copy or when I catch it on TV. It never fails to make me cry and this afternoon wasn’t any difference. It’s this time around that I decided to share my appreciation of the film to the millions (eherm!) readers of this blog through a movie review.

insomia days

No, it's not that i can't sleep.
I don't want to sleep.
Rather, my body wants to sleep, my mind doesn't so the mind controlling the whole me wins. I get bigger eye bags by the days... hmp.

My blog has been dead for the past 2 weeks. I really really want to change the look of this journal for the longest time, and believe me, I’ve been struggling against radiation and possible mental attacks for the past week just to be able to open this page one day with the look that I want for it. Poor me…I’m really dumb when it comes to manual things. HTML. I don’t know if I’m going to love it or not. The minute I start on the codes that I know (the very basics) I feel like a genius; but when it starts bitching on me and one single tag affects the whole thing, it’s like a 1000 megaton bomb crashes on my head! Shit. Now I’m starting to hate tabulas. Everything became complicated after they reconstructed it. Oh well, I’ll try again tomorrow. I replaced the last layout with an orange background and new banner for this template. I hope it will be for a while.

My PC needed much tending after a year of no check-up. After working on my layout for 3 days, my internet suddenly failed connecting. I thought I just needed to change windows again, but all the fixing I knew didn’t work. I asked my ever kindest kuya Ken what was wrong and he said it needed formatting. Summer means no money so I was hesitant to use my blank CDs to transfer my files. Instead, I asked my brother to be the one to fix my problem. He can transfer my files to his HD and format the damn thing. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t work because my HD is infected with a really strong virus. Real technician required.
I had to carry my big and heavy CPU all the way to Guadalupe again.
Since I wanted my 80G HD to be my master drive for the longest time, dream granted! I am now using it! LOVE. My PC is really fast now. And it’s….empty.
I saved all of mine and oniichan’s file, but I forgot to save my favorites so all my favorite links to my sourced of music, manga, blogs, information, etc. I have to trace all over again. And I had to install so many programs again. Pain. Oh well, it comes with being an owner.

Finishing Akuma de Sorou.
